The Last Days Wiki

The Last Days Wiki is an encyclopedia of texts, fragments, commentaries, manuscript traditions, and related scholarship associated with the corpus conventionally known as The Last Days.

The project was established following the publication of the Cosmogeny Fragment, a short text recovered from the North Archive excavations and dated to the late terminal period of the Ancient World. Owing to apparent parallels with several previously isolated traditions, the fragment led to renewed interest in a body of material that had long resisted systematic classification.

Prior to the publication of the Cosmogeny Fragment, scholarship concerning the transition between the Ancient World and the Present Age was largely confined to the study of disparate miracle accounts, visionary narratives, genealogical anomalies, liturgical remnants, and other documents of uncertain provenance. Although numerous textual relationships had been proposed, no broadly accepted framework existed through which the material could be considered as a coherent corpus.

The designation The Last Days was subsequently adopted as a matter of convenience for the study of texts thought to originate from, or describe, the final generations of the Ancient World. The term does not imply a consensus regarding authorship, historicity, chronology, or theological status.

This encyclopedia documents the primary texts, manuscript witnesses, archaeological contexts, textual variants, historical reconstructions, and major interpretive traditions associated with the corpus.

Entries are maintained in accordance with current editorial standards and are revised as new materials become available.
